Police arrest teen after woman shot while in bed Monday morning


Columbus police have announced arrests in two unrelated homicides -- one from 2021 -- and identified the victim from a third gunfire death earlier this week.

Columbus police have arrested suspects in two unrelated homicides, such as just one from July 2021, and discovered a target in a third lethal capturing. 

Police on Thursday arrested 18-calendar year-aged Tyreese Watkins, of the South Side, in link with the shooting death of 31-12 months-aged Sorenta Hylton on Monday.

Hylton was in bed in her apartment on the 1300 block of Vida Court on the city’s Southwest Side when shots had been fired into the developing close to 3:45 a.m. Monday, law enforcement claimed. A male who was in the condominium with Hylton identified as law enforcement and explained they heard the gunshots, but he was visually impaired and not able to see where by Hylton was shot. 

When the pictures had been fired into the condominium building, there had been 3 young children below the age of 13 that were being asleep inside of, according to law enforcement. None of them have been hurt.
