Pricey home, new hotel, paused grocer, ready-to-rent units top real estate happenings
Major real estate deals in Charleston are never boring, and the past week has brought about the usual flurry of wheeling and dealing, new construction plans and a pause in action at two sites.
On Sullivan’s Island, a beachfront home sold for nearly $10.4 million while plans are in the works to add an eight-story hotel addition on the back side of a King Street building. Meanwhile, discount grocer Lidl has stopped work on two new stores it is building in the Lowcountry but plans to announce future details in the fall.

$160M apartments to welcome 1st tenants in fall
Morrison Yard Apartments will offer 379 units when the complex on Morrison Drive is completed later this year, but the first 76 units are slated to be ready to lease in September on the 10-story development on the Charleston peninsula.

+ On the way: Cleats, a new restaurant and bar for the sports-minded, plans to open in The Refinery, where the mixed-use office building will open its amphitheater in August on Charleston’s upper peninsula.
+ Making a home: Atlanta-base home furnishings store Ballard Designs plans to take over the space left vacant by Pier 1 Imports in Mount Pleasant.
+ In the works: A new restaurant soon could be announced for the corner space at Meeting and Columbus streets in Courier Square.
